Creating a Development PLAN

This is a 3-week program is designed for:

  • Executive Directors (especially Executive Directors who work without Directors of Development)
  • Board members (especially Board members of all volunteer Boards)
  • and Directors of Development

The course will focus on creating a Development plan for 2016.

A GOOD YEAR BEGINS WITH A GOOD PLAN!

The course will cover:

WEEK 1: Goals & Strategies

Setting Goals & Strategies:  Based on the revenue needs of your organization, the course will teach you how to set realistic, but stretch fundraising goals for your organization. The course will challenge you to set inspiring, but not unrealistic goals and how to break those goals down into manageable steps.

Selecting Development Strategies:  The course will assist you in identifying appropriate revenue strategies to reach your goals. The course will help you decide which revenue strategies are worthwhile and which are not advisable, focusing on:

  • Mission-Fit
  • ROI
  • Reliability
  • Whether or not the strategy is something you can repeat year after year

WEEK 2: Prospects & Accountability

Checking Prospects & Gift Range Charts: Week 2 will make sure that you have adequate prospects for your selected strategies. If you don't, week 2 will help you build prospect identification into your plan.

Week 2 will also make sure that every strategy have action steps and assigned accountability with it.

WEEK 3:  Timeline

Finally, Week 3 will pull it all together and put it on a timeline. Week 3 will ensure that the ideas become a plan with a schedule. Week 3 will also cover how to communicate the plan to all of the key stakeholders.

About the instructor:  A graduate of the Faculty Training Academy of the Association of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Rebecca Davis, PhD, CFRE has worked for more than two decades in the trenches of nonprofit organizations, helping nonprofit all across the country improve their fundraising success. She is the recipient of local, national, and international writing, teaching, leadership, and graphic arts awards for the work she has done. Most days, you can find her dodging deer in her drive way, singing on the porch, or splashing in Cane Creek Falls at Glisson Camp & Retreat Center where she lives with her family and keeps a home office in Dahlonega, GA.
